Living Museum – an opportunity for social situation-related health promotion
Text
Research shows that social disadvantage is closely linked to health disadvantage: people of lower social status fall ill more often and have a higher mortality rate. According to a 2019 WHO report, art has a positive effect on health. The Living Museum (LM) makes use of this potential in healthcare by enabling people with mental illness to express themselves artistically and without external pressure. In the relevant database on health equity in practice, there is no “good practice project” related to art. This thesis investigates by expert interviews whether the Living Museum is suitable for social situation-related health promotion. Specifically, it examines whether the criteria of good practice established by the Collaborative Network for Health Equity are reflected in the LM. The results show that the LM approach can indeed be transferred. In particular implementation is considered especially in socially disadvantaged neighborhoods.
