Text

This thesis explores artistic practice as a path to self-care in non-clinical contexts and its potential possibilities. The study focuses on five women from diverse backgrounds with cross-cultural experiences, whose creative experiences and life narratives demonstrate how art can serve as a gentle and authentic means of connecting with oneself when language fails to adequately convey the weight of emotions. Through semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis, the paper identifies key themes such as “authenticity”, “connection”, “challenges” and “body awareness”, revealing that art is not only an outlet for expression but also a daily practice of self-preservation. In the context of individual challenges and cross-cultural tensions, the care logic embodied in artistic practice allows creators to process emotions and respond to existence through their work.
