Practice as Data: An Embodied Research Lab for Clinicians, Artists, and Scholars – Integrating Embodied Cognition, Predictive Processing, and Creative Inquiry
Text
This embodied research lab explores how artistic and therapeutic movement practices can function as sites of knowledge production. Drawing on theories of embodied cognition and predictive processing, participants engage in guided movement tasks that illuminate the body’s role in perception, meaning-making, and decision formation. The workshop demonstrates how somatic experience can be systematically documented and analyzed to generate research data. Participants will learn embodied observation tools, movement-based data collection methods, and micro-moment analysis techniques. This session offers clinicians, artists, and researchers a rigorous, interdisciplinary framework for integrating embodied practice into scientific, therapeutic, and creative inquiry.
