Introduction: BOC Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd (BOCZ) is currently living the reality of zero harm. The company has gone over a decade without recording lost time injuries including those related to Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders. The company’s performance has been recognized by government, through the National Social Security Authority (NSSA), for many years and by the Southern African Development Community (SADC). This presentation seeks to highlight best practices utilized by BOCZ to realise this performance despite operating in adverse economic conditions.

Methods: The information contained in this presentation are facts of issues experienced by BOC Zimbabwe. This was a high-level overview of how BOCZ is managing to sustain an excellent SHEQ performance with no musculoskeletal disorders in work environments that involve a lot of manual handling.

Outlook: This is meant to encourage other business operations to focus their energies on zero harm initiatives for better SHEQ performance and consequently yield desired business results.

Conclusion: BOCZ has demonstrated that it is possible to live the zero-harm vision. Having gone for more than a decade without recording any LTI, having no high severity injuries and the ability to meet business needs whilst professionally managing manual handling issues with no recordable musculoskeletal disorders is testimony that it can happen in perpetuity.
