Application of music therapy in the field of paediatric care through a multimodal approach – Adolescents with feeding and eating disorders
Text
Background: Since the time of Hippocrates, support such as the art of music has played an important role in providing care during hospital treatment. The severe form of psychopathology in anorexia nervosa of the restrictive type leaves consequences on both the physical and psychological functioning of patients, and they require a whole range of multidisciplinary treatment. In this way, importance is given to understanding the overall state of health of the patient, while encouraging their spiritual empowerment. An active, creative model of music therapy is applied in working with children and adolescents irrespective of their degree of pathology or disability, adapting to their needs in which they have the opportunity to process and freely shape their current energy.
