<MainHeadline>Text</MainHeadline><Pgraph><Mark1>Background:</Mark1> Healthy eating in early childhood is crucial for promoting child development and guiding dietary preferences throughout life. Evidence from reviews published before 2017 suggests that childcare settings can promote healthy eating in preschool children.</Pgraph><Pgraph><Mark1>Aim/scientific question:</Mark1> This study aimed to map the approaches to promote healthy eating among children aged 0–6 years in childcare settings using a scoping review of systematic reviews published since 2017.</Pgraph><Pgraph><Mark1>Material & Methods:</Mark1> This scoping review follows a prospectively registered protocol (<Hyperlink href="https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/HMC8Y">https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/HMC8Y</Hyperlink>) and adheres to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guideline. Eligibility was based on the PCC framework (Population: children aged 0-6 years; Concept: approaches to promote healthy eating; Context: centre-based childcare settings). Four databases (MEDLINE, SCOPUS, CINAHL, and Epistemonikos) were searched on 22 November 2024 for systematic reviews published since 2017. Two researchers independently screened and selected the studies. Extracted data were processed into four approaches (policy, system, environment, individual), synthesised narratively, and discussed with the relevant stakeholders (i.e. representatives from practice) during a workshop conducted in September 2025 in Bremen.</Pgraph><Pgraph><Mark1>Results:</Mark1> Out of 390 search records, 22 systematic reviews published between 2017–2024 were included. The reviews focused on evaluation of nutrition interventions or programs (n=18, 82%) or implementation strategies (n=4, 18%). Among 22 reviews, n=2 (9%) addressed all four approaches (policy, systems, environment, individual) while the rest (n=20, 91%) addressed 1–3 approaches to promote healthy eating in children aged 0–6 in childcare settings. Most reviews focused on individual (n=20, 91%) and systems approaches (n=17, 77%) and less on policy and environmental approaches (n=10, 46%, each). The importance of all four approaches was confirmed by the relevant stakeholders.</Pgraph><Pgraph><Mark1>Discussion:</Mark1> Reviews published since 2017 addressed predominantly approaches for individual behaviour change and systems modifications to promote healthy eating in preschool children. According to the relevant stakeholders, policy and environmental changes are also needed in childcare settings.</Pgraph><Pgraph><Mark1>Take Home Message:</Mark1> Four approaches (policy, system, environment, individual) should be considered in new interventions or programs to promote healthy eating in childcare settings.</Pgraph><Pgraph><Mark1>Competing interests:</Mark1> This study was funded by a grant from the hkk Health Insurance Company (Project EWISS III awarded on 3 September 2024). The authors declare no conflict of interest.</Pgraph></TextBlock>
